For the past few years, MAYCHAM had taken the lead in organising a “Lo Hei” gathering to celebrate the arrival of the Spring Festival of the year with the support of all the participating chambers, making it a significant and successful event that members looked forward to every year. However, due to the unfortunate COVID-19 pandemic, this has been disrupted for 2 years.
MAYCHAM was delighted to be announcing the resumption of this event in 2023!
For the uninitiated, “Lo Hei”, in Cantonese literally translates to “tossing up good fortune”, and it refers to the ritual adopted in Southeast Asia that involves a group of people gathered around a massive plate, tossing its contents while saying out auspicious phrases before eating it—it is popularly believed that the higher the toss, the better your prospects and fortune in the year ahead!
This year, in view of the 10th anniversary of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement in 2022, MAYCHAM was thrilled to co-host this with chambers from the RCEP countries, namely:
Australian Chamber
Indonesian Chamber
Korean Chamber
Myanmar Chamber
Singapore Chamber
Hong Kong - Thailand Business Council
Vietnam Chamber
