HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair, Salon de TE and CENTRESTAGE

In early September, the HKTDC organised three lifestyle events covering timepieces and fashion items in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair (8-12 Sept) was an all-encompassing timepiece showcase, featuring complete watches, smartwatches and clocks, as well as parts, components and equipment. Salon de TE (8-12 Sept), the prestigious gallery of timepieces, spotlights premium watch brands and unique watch designs. At the two fairs, you could find some of the best deals in town for renowned brands like Como Milano and Memorigin. On the other hand, CENTRESTAGE (10-12 Sept) played host to local and international fashion brands where the latest collections and creative designs for the wardrobe are featured. Apart from participating in an exciting range of fashion shows and parades, you can also seek high-quality fashion pieces at special prices from trendsetting designer labels like DAFU, Lapeewee and METHODOLOGY, to name but just a few.

Online Webinar with Mrs Carrie Lam, Chief Executive of the HKSAR Speech on 14th Five Year Plan

The National 14th Five-Year plan, approved in March at the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress, provides a blueprint and action plan for the social and economic development of the country in the next five years.

The 14th Five-Year Plan continues to highlight Hong Kong as an important element in its various chapters. This should help maintain our city's long-term prosperity and stability, as well as provide enormous opportunities for the future development of Hong Kong. HKGCC invited the Chief Executive Carrie Lam to speak to the business community on 3 June on the plan's implications for the future development of Hong Kong. Mrs Lam, speaking online via Zoom, shared with us her insights on the plan, how it will shape Hong Kong's future, as well as how the business community can benefit and contribute to the plan.

Business of IP Asia Online Forum 2021

Jointly organised by the HKSAR Government, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Hong Kong Design Centre, BIP Asia Forum brings IP professionals and business leaders from all over the world to discuss the latest developments in the IP world, and to explore business collaboration opportunities. The tenth edition of the Forum was held online on 3-4 December 2020 with great success, featuring over 60 prominent speakers sharing their insights and attracted more than 10,000 IP professionals and industry leaders to attend.

BIP Asia Forum 2021 was gone online in its 11th edition and be transformed into a brand-new networking online platform for IP professionals and business leaders from around the world to discuss the latest developments in the IP world, and interact with worldwide IP professionals. The Forum held on 2-3 December 2021.

4th China International Import Expo 2021

HKTDC cordially invited our members to attend the fourth edition of the China International Import Expo (CIIE) on 5-10 November 2021 at the Shanghai National Exhibition & Convention Centre. CIIE was organised by Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and Shanghai Municipal People's Government. The HKTDC was continued to mount a Product Pavilion and a Services Pavilion, introducing Hong Kong's international trade resources, products and professional services to the mainland market and beyond.

In 2020, the CIIE was the largest online-offline Expo organised in China amid the pandemic. It attracted exhibitors from over 120 countries and regions, with a total exhibition space reaching 360,000 sqm, resulting in over USD72 billion cumulative intention deals, up 2.1% from the previous year.

According to the "Outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan for the National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035" published in March this year, the Central Government proposed the new dual circulation strategy to continue the economic sustainable growth, presenting new business opportunities for international collaboration. The Expo is therefore an ideal platform for Hong Kong companies and our international business communities to get connected with potential business partners worldwide and to acquire the latest market insights.

HKTBC Annual General Meeting 2021

About 20 members attended the Council's Annual General (Virtual) Meeting. The Council played its part in keeping members informed about the changing political and economic situation in the Kingdom and the effects of global events on Hong Kong and the Mainland. We also continued to develop ties with other organizations. Mr. Bernard Charnwut Chan, GBM, GBS, JP, Dr. Harry Lee, SBS, JP, Mr. Clayton T. HKTDC " Belt and Road Online Summit 2021 - Driving Growth Through Fostering Regional and International Trade"

Jointly organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the fifth edition of the Belt and Road Summit was themed "Driving Growth Through Fostering Regional and International Trade". It was feature practical topics, ranging from infrastructure development and financing, risk management and legal issues, innovation and technology collaborations, manufacturing in and selling to Belt and Road markets, as well as Greater Bay Area opportunities. In the Summit, you also established new connections via our networking and business matching events.

GS1 Hong Kong Summit

GS1 Hong Kong Summit had built itself as one of the most distinguished and influential industry events in Hong Kong, serving as an occasion for industry leaders and pioneers across borders to network and discuss how innovations, technologies and new business strategies are orchestrated to drive digital transformation and smarter business with enhanced consumer experience. Themed "Scaling Digital Transformation, Cultivating Digital Assets" this year, the Summit was the major show conference of the GOVirtual Expo - the first physical exhibition focusing on virtual business technology since the pandemic, gathering business leaders across different industries. The Summit took place at the HKCEC.

Greater Bay Area Cultural Heritage and Creative Innovation Conference

China Daily Asia Leadership Roundtable invited our members to attend the Greater Bay Area Cultural Heritage and Creative Innovation Conference themed "Establishing the Cultural and Creative Nexus for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" onsite. The event hold through May 31 to June 1, 2021, it was expected to bring together government officials, industry leaders, CEOs and academics from across the region and it will also be open to local and international media.
